As a physician scientist in the neuroscience who worked in China, Japan, and now in the USA, I am highly motivated and committed in improving neurological outcome through various innovative approaches. I have dual appointment in departments of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, and Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania.  As a Commissioner on the Lancet Commission on Neurorehabilitation, I will work with the leadership team to work on the areas specified in the task of the commission. Briefly, to characterize the current burden and the current evidence-based interventions, to conduct a situational analysis of neuro-rehabilitation services, and to co-develop the Commission’s evidence-based recommendations etc. One of my focuses will be on reducing stroke burden and its related disabilities through interventions in the early phase stroke. I have long experience in clinical and basic science research in neuroscience and pharmacology.
