Karin van Niekerk is an occupational therapist who completed her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Intervention in 2007. In her PhD study she investigated the factors that influence the provision of assistive technology to children with disabilities in South Africa.
Karin is especially interested in facilitating the participation of children with disabilities in meaningful activities and life roles, and her research focuses on facilitating this. She has extensive experience in facilitating communication, play, education, and activities of daily living with children with neurological conditions, often by utilising assistive technologies or environmental modifications
