Dr. Caroline Renner, MD, has been actively involved in Neurorehabilitation for over 20 years, and her passion for it and its advancements continues to grow. Neuroscientific research has led to a deeper understanding and progress in Neurorehabilitation, yet it continues to pose new questions. After completing her medical education in the USA and Germany, Dr. Renner obtained her speciality in neurology and postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) in 2012 in Germany. Her clinical research focused on motor function, neuropsychological impairments and rehabilitation, and disorders of consciousness in early neurorehabilitation. For the German Society of Neurorehabilitation (DGNR), Dr. Renner coordinated an evidence-based guideline, “Multimodal neurorehabilitative approaches to treat Post-Intensive-Care Syndrome,” with other medical societies. Dr. Renner has been elected to the extended praesidium of the European Federation of Neurorehabilitation (EFNR) and the Executive Committee of the DGNR.
