Professor Akinwuntan is a world-leading authority on the use of virtual-reality technologies to improve daily living activities in neurologically impaired persons. He has collaborated on several funded grants totaling more than $15 million. Professor Akinwuntan has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed scholarly publications and 8 book chapters. He is a three-time recipient of the prestigious United States Fulbright Award. He is a Fellow of the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions, Fellow of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Specialties of Nigeria and Fellow of the National Academies of Practice. Dr. Akinwuntan currently serves on the board of directors of three professional organizations and on the editorial board of three international journals.
