Sebastian F. Winter M.D. Ph.D., is a physician-scientist, policy lead, and social entrepreneur working at the intersection of public policy, global health, and academia. A Consultant at the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Brain Health Unit, he is supporting the implementation of WHO’s Intersectoral global action plan on epilepsy and other neurological disorders (IGAP). Before joining WHO, Dr. Winter served as Head of Policy and Research at the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE), practiced medicine at Charité University Hospital Berlin, Germany, and co-founded the non-profit organization R3SOLUTE. His research has been published in journals such as The Lancet Global Health, Neurology, Neuro-Oncology, and The Brookings Institution Press, with regular contributions and speaking engagements at various international platforms. An affiliate researcher at the Mass General Cancer Center at Harvard Medical School and alumnus of the German National Academic Foundation, Dr. Winter holds a Ph.D. (summa cum laude; ’22) and M.D. (Distinction; ’20) from Charité Berlin and a B.Sc. (1st Class Honours; ’13) in Neuroscience from King’s College London, UK.
