James A, Balogun is a clinical fellowship trained adult and pediatric surgical neurooncologist, trained at prestigious institutions including the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Toronto Western Hospital, Toronto, Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, and Salford Royal Foundation Trust, Manchester, United Kingdom. He also did a research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), Pittsburgh. His research focus is on the epidemiology, science and surgery of adult and pediatric brain tumors with publications in reputable journals. His clinical practice is largely centered on minimal access cranial surgery, endoscopic pituitary/skull base surgery, Awake and Same day discharge craniotomy services. He coordinates the brain tumor bank of his hospital. He co-founded the Society for Neurooncology Sub-Saharan Africa (SNOSSA) and has been actively involved in organized neurooncology across the world, advocating for improved education, research and clinical services particularly in the developing world.
