Dr Abhishek Srivastava (MBBS, MD, DNB, PhD) is Neurorehabilitation Specialist and Director, Center of Excellence for Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai. He is Member at Large, Presidium, World Federation for Neurorehabilitation and Chair Multiple Sclerosis SIG, WFNR; Chair, Education Committee of Asia Oceania Society for Neurorehabilitation (AOSNR); Member, Guidelines Development Group for PRI for Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation, World Health Organization (WHO); Member, Workforce Workstream, World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA); Chair, Neurorehabilitation Sub-Section of Indian Academy of Neurology; and Secretary, Indian Federation for Neurorehabilitation. He has organized many prestigious conferences including X World Congress of Neurorehabilitation (WCNR 2018), III Asia Oceania Conference for Neurorehabilitation (AOCNR) and One week International Rehabilitation Course. He has edited 3 books, contributed 15 chapters and 80 research papers, and 300 invited lectures in the field of Neurorehabilitation. Dr Srivastava has received Bindeshwati Sudarshan IAPMR Gold Medal, Dr Anisya Vasanth Award, Dr Navnendra Mathur Award, Dadhichi Hospimedica Award for the enormous contribution in field of neurosciences and rehabilitation.
20 years of experience in Rehabilitation Medicine esp. Neurorehabilitation for stroke, traumatic brain injury and progressive neurological disorders. Clinical areas of interest are acute neurorehabilitation. neurorehab for persons with disorders of consciousness, rehab robotics, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and ultrasound guided botulinum toxin for spasticity management. Research areas of interest are neuroplasticity, neurorecovery and neurorehabilitation.
Dr Srivastava, is the first Physician to be awarded PhD in Neurorehabilitation in India from the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. He started the first and largest comprehensive Centre for Physical Medicine Rehabilitation in India in private healthcare in 2008 with physician supervised programs, multidisciplinary trained team, and latest cutting edge technology and inpatient/daycare/out-patient programs. He is program director for Residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Fellowship in Neurorehabilitation at the Institute. He is an avid teacher and has trained numerous young physicians and healthcare professionals in the field of neurorehabilitaion at the institute and by conducting multiple courses and hands on workshops in India and across the globe.
