Bernard Dan is a physician (neurologist, paediatric neurologist, and rehabilitation specialist) with special interest in cerebral palsy, neurogenetic conditions, and neurophysiology at Inkendaal Rehabilitation Hospital; a professor of developmental neuroscience at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB); and the editor-in-chief of Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology. He is an ordinary member of the Académie royale de Médecine de Belgique, fellow of the Royal College of Physicicians (London), commander of the Order of Leopold (Belgium), and chairs the European Academy of Childhood-onset Disability. He received a number of national and international awards, including the John Stobo Prichard Award and the Elsass Prize. He authored over 300 journal articles and several reference books on childhood disability and on bioethics. Aside from these activities, he acted as scientific curator for several art exhibitions, and writes works of fiction.
